It took 5 days and over two thousand people to fight the raging fire across Cape Town’s southern Peninsula. It broke out above Muizenberg on the 1.3.2015 and spread rapidly as strong winds carried the fire further, affecting 5 500 hectares of land. Definitely one of the scariest moments of our lives. A huge thanks to the marvelous people from the Volunteer Wildfire Services, Working on Fire and all the other restless helpers who managed to stop the disaster in its tracks and preventing the situation from getting even worse. It was absolutely incredible to see a community work together, donating food and supplies, raising money and offering help wherever it was needed.
